Building Information Modeling (BIM) Technician Mason McCort

Meet Mason McCort, one of Price Electric’s People You Can Rely On. Mason McCort is a Building Information Modeling (BIM) Technician at Price Electric. “My job is to bring electrical installations to life in a 3D world before they are constructed in the field. This gives us the ability to coordinate with other trades, prefabricate necessary aspects, and troubleshoot potential issues before it affects the cost and schedule of a given job.” Mason’s favorite job so far at Price Electric is the Reconserve Feed Mill Project in Indiana. It is the biggest prefabrication effort that he’s been a part of. He enjoyed seeing something that would have taken weeks to install in the field reduced to a four-hour job in the Price Electric Prefab shop. In his spare time, Mason enjoys hiking with his girlfriend and two dogs at different nature areas around North Liberty, yoga, and fishing for bass and crappie.

What do you like most about your job at Price Electric?

The best part about my job is seeing things go from a 3D model in a computer program to a real-world installation that positively impacts people’s lives and communities. The work environment is very professional but also friendly. It is an inviting work environment and I felt very welcomed by Price Electric. I enjoy that the standard of work and innovation at Price is exceedingly high, the attention to detail, corners aren’t cut, it’s always a focus on craftsmanship and professionalism and I appreciate that.
