Meet Izak, one of Price Electric’s People You Can Rely On.
Izak is an electrical apprentice who assists the foreman on job sites, ensuring they have the necessary tools and materials.
In his role, Izak’s responsibilities include helping the foreman complete tasks, staying prepared, heavy lifting, keeping projects on track, and finishing on time. Currently, he supports the service department. In his free time, Izak enjoys sports, traveling, and trying new activities.
Could you tell us about a project at Price Electric that stands out for you, and why?
My favorite project so far has been the Kinnick Stadium parking ramp project in Iowa City. I learned a great deal and had the opportunity to work with many cool people. I worked on this project for about eight months last year, and it was an incredibly rewarding experience.
Do you have a motto or mantra that guides your life?
“Work hard and play hard.” I know that it’s one of Price Electric’s core values. I’ve always been a hard worker, and I enjoy having fun too. I take both of these aspects of my life seriously and strive to live by them.
Where would you go for a dream vacation?
I would love to travel to Europe, especially to Ireland or Italy.
Did your family influence your career choice?
My family has significantly influenced my career choice. On my dad’s side, nearly all of them—about 90%—work in construction. I began working in construction during high school, taking on roles in electrical, carpentry, and plumbing, primarily in residential settings. With many contractors in my family who build houses, I discovered my passion for hands-on work and creating things. I’ve always enjoyed that aspect of my job.
In my senior year
of high school, I had the opportunity to job shadow an electrician, which solidified my decision to pursue an electrical career.
Tell us three things that most people don’t know about you.
- I’m a huge foodie. I love both cooking and eating. I enjoy all kinds of food and am not a picky eater.
- I have a huge family, with close to 100 relatives. My immediate family includes four siblings, and I have 13 uncles and at least 20 cousins, all living in Iowa.
- I love sports, whether watching or playing. I often played backyard football for fun, and I also enjoy pickleball, disc golf, and games like pool and darts. I am very competitive.
What would you say to someone considering an electrical career with Price Electric?
If someone is considering a career with Price Electric, my advice would be to go for it! Reach out and get started. I’m happy I made that choice; I’m enjoying my experience here. The company is very well-managed, and the team is close-knit and knowledgeable. Overall, it’s a great environment, and I truly appreciate being a part of it.
What is your favorite restaurant?
I like Texas Roadhouse, but I don’t really have a favorite one because I want to try new things and new restaurants.
What is the best vacation that you have had?
One of my favorite vacations was my trip to Boston, MA. I attended a Patriots game and explored the city. I also enjoyed the cruises I taken; I’ve been on several, and they are always fun. I have traveled to South America and Mexico. I enjoy cruises because they allow me to see and explore new places in different countries and continents.

What was the first concert that you ever attended?
My first major concert was Nickelback in 2009 in Moline, IL, during their Dark Horse Tour. My favorite concert experiences are attending Lollapalooza, the annual rock festival in Chicago, for a couple of years in a row. This major festival features multiple stages and artists over four days.

hing about working at Price Electric?
I appreciate the different personalities on our team. The company effectively pairs us with teams we connect well with, which has led to great experiences on various job sites. I enjoy the variety in tasks and the opportunity to meet new people every day; it never feels repetitive.
I also like the early schedules, which let me finish work around 3:00 or 3:30 PM and enjoy the afternoons. As an apprentice, I’m excited to earn my license, and I believe this is the best place to do that. Overall, this is the best job I’ve had among the many places I’ve worked.
When are you happiest?
When I have good food and am watching a Patriots game.
Where is your hometown?
I lived in Iowa City until around 4th grade and then spent 11 years near Muscatine. However, I’ve always considered Iowa City my true home.
Which Price Electric Core Value do you relate to the most?
The core value of Price Electric that resonates most with me is creating opportunities for success. While working at Price Electric, I’ve earned my electrician’s license and assisted friends and family with their electrical needs.
What is your favorite meal?
My favorite meal includes steak, but I also love jalapeño poppers, cheeseburgers, or pizza. I like classic American food, and I love Chinese food.
What skill should everyone learn?
Everyone should learn to be happy, enjoy life, and laugh. I find joy in many things, like movies and stand-up comedy.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I’ve always excelled in math—I was often in accelerated math classes. Math has always been a subject I enjoy. I hold a degree in electrical engineering, earned after two years at Muscatine Community College.
What is your favorite work benefit?
I enjoy the flexibility of new places and faces. Working in service is always different.
What has been one of your proudest moments working at Price Electric?
My proudest moment at Price Electric was earning my residential Journeyman’s license, marking my first step in the licensing process.
