Employee Spotlight: Dylan – Foreman

Meet Dylan, one of Price Electric’s People You Can Rely On.

Dylan’s role at Price Electric is as an Electrical Foreman in the commercial and industrial divisions.

“There is never a dull moment at work. One day, I could install thousands of feet of conduit into a duct bank system, and the next, I could terminate a PLC cabinet. The possibilities are limitless.”

When I’m not at work, I enjoy living life with my wife, family, and friends by traveling, riding side by side, taking on house or garage projects, and throwing the ball for our fetch-addicted black lab, Waylon.

What do you like most about your job at Price Electric?

The best thing about my job is seeing new places and meeting new people, whether co-workers, customers, tradespeople, or anyone you cross paths with, and making connections. I’ve met many good people, not just at Price Electric but also from other trades and while traveling for work. Every day, there’s something new, and it’s never the same.

What are three words to describe Price Electric?

  • Fun
  • Simple (I feel like Price Electric tried to make everything as simple as possible)
  • Professional

What is on your bucket list?

I want to travel to Europe and visit all the countries there.

What Price Electric Core Value do you identify with the most?

I identify with the Price Core Value – Pursue Lasting Relationships.  “I believe networking and getting to know people is the most beneficial advancement in our work.  It makes the job easier, and having someone in your back pocket when there are unanswered questions is always nice.”

Where is your hometown?

I grew up in Hopkinton, IA., and currently live in Delhi.

What is the best vacation that you have had?

The best vacation that I’ve had was my honeymoon. We went to Saint Thomas in the Virgin Islands for five nights. I have been on other tropical location vacations, but Saint Thomas is the best. I like that it is less commercialized. It also has the clearest water. We enjoyed snorkeling. You can perfectly see 100 feet down. My wife was a bit nervous about catching the fish, so the captain threw a piece of bread by her while she was snorkeling. Of course, the fish swarmed around her, and she quickly overcame her fear. It was like being in an aquarium. We also enjoyed seeing sea turtles.

Tell us three things that most people don’t know about you.

  1. The Dukes of Hazard is my favorite TV show. I own every season. I waited in line for seven hours to get an autograph from Katherine Bach, who played Daisy Duke at Dukes of Hazard National.
  2. I grew up always trying to fix things. I was always wiring up speakers. LED lights and stuff. I became an electrician and learned it was nothing like wiring up stereos!
  3. In High School, I wanted to be an architect. I was in the musical Grease. I performed multiple roles, including backup dancer and radio broadcaster.

What has been one of your proudest moments working at Price Electric?

While working at Price Electric, one of my proudest moments was passing my Journeyman’s Exam.  It’s the one thing that we all work towards during our apprenticeship. With the help of Price Electric, along with the experience and job training given to me, I passed the exam on my first try.

Have you been promoted while working at Price Electric?

I have been promoted multiple times at Price Electric, where I started my career as an electrical apprentice.

What’s your favorite concert that you’ve seen?

My favorite concert was when I worked for Price Electric at our Florida location and saw Jelly Roll and Brantley Gilbert.

Another great concert was seeing Luke Combs and Chase Rice recently in Chicago.

I’ve attended many country concerts, including Country on the River, where I met Colt Ford. He was a professional golfer before pursuing his musical career. He was golfing at the local golf course adjacent to my Airbnb. After sinking a long putt, we shared a beer with him.

What has been your favorite project at Price Electric, and why?

My favorite project that I have been a part of was the Wells/Blue Bunny Ice Cream Factory in Dunkirk, New York.   Participating in that project for over a year taught me the most about this trade. The project required lots of planning, troubleshooting, conduit bending, and understanding how everything worked together.

What advice would you give to someone considering a profession at Price Electric?

There’s something to learn every day. Don’t be afraid to learn new things.

Price Electric gives you plenty of opportunities. I’ve traveled and worked in the utility, commercial, industrial, and residential sectors. If you put your time in, you can go wherever you want.

Take advantage of the travel opportunities while you are young. You get paid to travel to places you’d probably never visit. I’ve traveled for work to New York, Florida, Wisconsin, Illinois, Nebraska, Texas, and Missouri.

Now, I’m married and have a kid. If you don’t have kids, then travel. I loved it. I still do.
