One of my favorite projects was an industrial project in Stockton, IL. I had the opportunity to work at the Brewster Cheese Factory and learned a lot of new things. I was still getting acquainted with motors then, so understanding how they worked was a great learning experience.

What is the best place you have ever traveled to and why?

The best place I have ever traveled to is Fort Myers, Florida. I went to Florida for work, but it felt like a vacation.

It was exciting because it was the first time I traveled somewhere without family. I was there for four weeks, and it had a different atmosphere, and I met many new people. I still have people asking when I’m coming back to Fort Myers.

I had no stress planning this trip; I didn’t have to prepare anything. I knew where I was staying and how to get there. I went to a few bars, was invited to do different things, and made more friends.

My favorite meal is meatballs and mashed potatoes, which my mom makes.

Did your family influence your career choice?

I was fortunate to have supportive parents who encouraged me to pursue my interests. Growing up on a farm, I developed a passion for hands-on work.

I gained experience in concrete pouring and construction and even studied electrical engineering in high school. My family recognized my aptitude for technology and suggested that I consider a career in the electrical field.

My grandfather, who was an electrician and also a farmer, influenced my decision. He was involved with electrical companies and worked as an electrician in the 70s when safety codes were not as stringent as today.

My mom instilled in me the value of exploring different paths, while my dad taught me the importance of hard work and practical skills, such as fixing things and applying common sense.
