The Cedar Rapids NW Clean Water Treatment Plant, a vital facility located in Cedar Rapids, IA, is dedicated to providing essential water treatment and distribution services to the community.
This is a three-year project to upgrade and expand the clean water treatment facilities. This initiative includes adding electrical and automation components, installing a new solids contact clarifier, a recarbonization basin, flow splitter structures, and necessary piping and site work at the facility.
The crew revamped the polymer pump system and wired new systems for CO2, Lime, Chlorine, and Ammonia to process drinking water.
The team also installed underground duct banks, vaults, controls, and power for specialized systems, including a programmable logic controller (PLC) relay and lighting. These new systems have seamlessly integrated into the plant’s existing operations and controls. This system upgrade significantly enhances the maintenance capabilities of the other two systems responsible for clarifying, separating, and purifying the residents’ water.
The newly installed softener basin and associated equipment can now efficiently manage an impressive 15 million gallons of water daily!
