The Union at North Crossing project in Waterloo, Iowa, was a significant apartment construction project that provides affordable housing for those whose median income is below 60 percent of the area’s median income.
The garden-style community spans 10 acres and includes five buildings with 180 individual dwelling units, ranging from one-bedroom to three-bedroom apartments. Each building features 36 units and 2,520 square feet of amenity space, including a clubhouse with a fitness center, craft room, business center, and banquet hall.
The project is certified at the bronze level of the National Green Building Standard for its use of green building practices.
Our team at Price Electric implemented several innovative strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
By combining underground systems into a single trench and using prefabricated parts, we significantly reduced installation time and labor costs.
We also advocated using residential wiring methods in the clubhouse, which further streamlined the process.
Despite challenges such as sandy soil and material lead times, our team successfully completed the project on time and within budget.
The Union at North Crossing is a testament to our commitment to quality, innovation, and community impact.
