This project was a high-end condominium complex built for the 55+ community in the Iowa City area. The three-building campus included three-story structures and underground parking. Within each building, the individual unit was built to the standards and preferences of their future tenants.
After the project had broken ground, the owners decided to open individualized options for each unit to their prospective tenants. This gave Price Electric an opportunity to customize each condo with the additions each tenant wanted to make their units truly their own.
Most changes were made after sheet rock was hung, in some cases after painting was complete. There were also changes made in the common areas, afterwards, These included added data and power receptacles and outlets and specialized lighting. Another addition was picture hanging and lighting in the connecting tunnels.
The more units that were sold, the more changes Oaknoll made. A car wash area was added in the parking garage. A bicycle repair station was added after the rough-in was already in progress. Emergency generators were added after the area was struck by the historic Derecho windstorm, which knocked out electrical utilities for days in the Iowa City area. We added outdoor installations after the initial design, which included a small dog park and recreation area, and a fire pit with an outdoor picnic area complete with additional site lighting and decorative lighting. A restaurant style dining area and bar were added to the commons. Finally, additional wiring and programming were added towards the end of the rough-in phase for programmable lighting controls.
