Manuel De La Rosa, one of Price Electric’s People You Can Rely On, has been an apprentice/electrical helper at Price Electric for a year. Manuel, or his nickname, Mannie, identifies with Price Electric Core Value: Rely on Us. I’m reliable if you need me. You can depend on me to be there. I also like the core value of “Innovative Thinking” because I think outside the box as an electrician and help with tricky situations. Manuel likes to hang out with family, friends, and his two dogs in his spare time. He also enjoys playing video games and working out at the gym.
What do you like most about your job at Price Electric?
I enjoy the fact that not every day is different. My favorite part about working at Price Electric is the people. I like how everyone gets along and helps each other out when they need it. I enjoy working with my hands and helping with electrical projects. I like that there are more opportunities that most companies can’t offer.
What is the best vacation that you have had?
My favorite vacation was when I went to Florida to work at the Price Electric Florida branch. While working at Price Electric Florida in Florida, I felt like I was on vacation. We went to the beach, great restaurants, and crab races. Then, during March Madness, the team joined CEO Jeremy Price and his wife Kristin at RonDao’s Pizzeria & Sports Bar to cheer on the Iowa Hawkeyes. It was an excellent experience because it helped me learn more about my coworkers and meet new co-workers. I enjoyed getting together outside of work.

What has been one of your proudest moments working at Price Electric?
I had the opportunity to work at the Price Electric Florida location to help with the recovery after Hurricane Ian hit. I enjoyed working on Sanibel Island, helping the community rebuild their homes. In addition, I worked on a building damaged by the hurricane, and troubleshooting was required to get the building up to code.
I learned a lot about how electrical systems work in natural disaster construction and ensuring that a building complies with codes and regulations after an event like a hurricane. Getting out of my comfort zone and working with different people was also nice.
Did anyone influence your career choice?
My older brother Oscar influenced my career choice. He is a foreman/journeyman electrician. He’s a great brother. We live in Riverside, IA. He invited me to live at his new home while I established my career. He’s a great mentor! He has many great qualities, including being a very reasonable guy.
