GRAPEVINE, Texas, March 11—Associated Builders and Contractors today announced Jim Ellis, vice president of Price Electric, Robins, Iowa, received ABC’s 2021 Young Professional of the Year Award. Ellis was honored at ABC Convention 2021 in Grapevine, Texas, on March 9.

The Young Professional of the Year is chosen based on career achievement, leadership, and vision for the future of the commercial and industrial construction industry. In addition, Ellis was selected based on his contributions and dedication to the merit shop.

“Jim Ellis has made a meaningful, long-term impact on the merit shop construction industry on the local and national level,” said 2021 ABC National Chair of the Board of Directors Steve Klessig, vice president of architecture and engineering, Keller Inc., Kaukauna, Wisconsin. “As a young professional, his passion for helping ABC members develop people, win work, and deliver that work safely, ethically, and profitably is evident from his past performance and future professional goals. We are excited for his continued leadership of ABC on the chapter and national levels and congratulate Jim on this achievement.”

Ellis is the vice chair of the ABC of Iowa board of directors and chairs the Government Affairs Committee. He started up a utility division within his own company, which has helped grow the division into an $8 million/year part of the $30 million/year business. Industry leaders recognize his calm demeanor and firm leadership approach.

ABC’s Young Professionals group aims to shape the future of our industry by supporting the growth of professionals under the age of 40 who ABC member companies employ. The group is sponsored by Autodesk Construction Cloud, which combines advanced technology, a unique builders’ network, and predictive insights to connect people and data across the entire building lifecycle. As Young Professional of the Year, Ellis received a $10,000 cash prize and will be featured in the June issue of Construction Executive magazine.

The Young Professional of the Year Award is one of numerous ABC award programs that promote lifelong learning and achievement at every level of the construction industry. Learn more about ABC’s commitment to workforce development at workforce.abc.org.
