Eric Hubert Training Manager Employee Spotlight

Introducing Eric Hubert, one of Price Electric’s People You Can Rely On. In his role, Eric oversees crucial aspects such as the electrical apprenticeship, licensing, certifications, and CDLs and coordinates and delivers training sessions as necessary.

His dedication to ensuring our team is equipped with a wide range of skills, from forklift operation to lean construction, is unparalleled. Eric’s role extends to onboarding support, overseeing various training programs, and managing associated apprenticeship, licensing, certifications, and CDL coordination activities.

Eric enjoys martial arts, camping, and fishing when he’s not at work.

Most of his camping has been in Northern Minnesota. Eric could sit on the shore of a lake and be happy for hours, as he enjoys anything outdoors.

He also enjoys teaching martial arts and watching them grow in the art. In addition, he likes playing video games, with a preference for role-playing over shooter games.

Tell us three things that most people don’t know about you.

  1. I served in the Navy for approximately nine years as a Nuclear Machinist Mate. I was stationed on the West Coast onboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70), so I’ve traveled extensively throughout Asia and Australia.
  2. I enjoy singing karaoke even though I am not very good. Due to poor choices in the early years of the military and not wearing hearing protection when I should have, I have hearing loss, which makes it difficult. This is why I no longer play the instruments I played as a kid. I have trouble hearing certain tones. I’ve learned to read people’s lips when I can’t understand them.
  3. I am involved in martial arts. I take classes and teach. I have studied martial arts for over 25 years and have been at Revolution Martial Arts for about 12 years. I have studied various styles, such as Wing Chun, Judo, and Tang Soo Do.

What Price Electric Core Value do you identify with the most?

I identify with the Price Core Value—Pursuing Lasting Relationships. As the single point of contact for training, I have provided the necessary support to help employees succeed.

Where was your hometown?

My hometown is Anoka, Minnesota, a town along the Mississippi River and known as the Halloween capital of the country. It is located northwest of the Twin Cities.

What has been your favorite project at Price Electric, and why?

My favorite project I visited was the OAHE Dam in South Dakota. It had older technology, so Price has been updating/changing various MCCs and electrical panels.

It felt like I was back in the Navy, on a ship.

The dam was massive, with spots where you could walk down and see the spinning turbines.

I have also visited several projects, such as the University of Iowa, Vista, and Fareway projects, to provide training and walk-downs. As a support person in training, I support the team and projects.

What are three words to describe Price Electric?

  • Rewarding
  • Reliable
  • Resourceful

What is the best vacation that you have had?

A favorite port that I visited in the Navy was Pattaya, Thailand.

I enjoyed riding an elephant and meeting exciting people in Perth, Australia.

Everywhere I went in the Navy, everyone understood the word “beer.” Communication is accessible wherever the Navy ships pull in.

In Thailand, I met an incredible young boy who guided an elephant with ease by sitting on the elephant’s head and tapping here and there

What is on your bucket list?

I want to visit Europe and Africa, specifically Egypt, the UK, Spain, and Italy.  I want to go to Scotland and tour the castles. It would be cool to see the Eilean Donan Castle featured in the movie Highlander.

What motivates you?

I love teaching and witnessing growth. Teaching is my passion. I would be that eccentric high school science teacher if public educators were better compensated.

What’s the first concert that you went to?

The first concert I ever attended was Green Day in upstate New York.

What has been one of your proudest moments working at Price Electric?

One of my proudest moments at Price Electric has been witnessing apprentices grow in the trade and evolve into leaders.

What would you say to someone considering a profession at Price Electric?

Hard work is rewarded.
