Introducing Jason Burge, a valued employee from Price Electric’s Utility Division and one of the many Price Electrics “People You Can Rely On.” Since joining the team, Jason has specialized in traffic services in the Utility Division and has made himself an asset to the company.
Jason enjoys a peaceful life at home with his family when he’s not working. Jason and his wife have five children and, of course, a beloved German shepherd dog. His family and furry companion bring him great joy, though he also finds other activities to keep himself occupied, such as gardening and home maintenance.
The family’s home is unique because half the property is dedicated to an organic garden with raised beds. This enables them to grow fruits and vegetables like peppers, string beans, cabbage, and apple and pear trees.
Which Price Electric Core Value do you identify with most and why?
The Price Electric core value that I identify most with is Innovative Thinking. In the Utility Division, we have hazards that change regularly. I enjoy having to think on my feet.
What has been your favorite project at Price Electric, and why?
My favorite project at Price Electric has been the Burlington traffic camera project. I’m proud of the Price Electric team’s success on the project. Our hard work and dedication culminated in meeting our deadlines and demonstrating that we could handle large-scale workloads. It was an honor to be part of such a talented team.
What are three things that most people do not know about you?
- I play the piano and the drums. Before buying a drum set, my grandmother made me learn the piano first.
- It’s a hobby, but I excel at playing chess.
- I was in the army for over six years.
Did anyone inspire your career decision?
My grandfather inspired me. He was a mechanic, a machinist, and a hard worker his whole life. My grandfather is the one who raised me.
What was the most exciting job you did before working at Price Electric?
I worked at and still work part-time as an armed security guard at the Paramount Theater, McGrath Amphitheater, and the Alliant Powerhouse. I work at the backstage curtain. So I get to choose which shows I work on. The best concert I’ve seen there was Rob Zombie. He’s a regular guy, nothing weird about him; he’s very cool. He owns these massive sheepdogs that go with him everywhere. They are big and fluffy and follow Rob around wherever he goes.
What advice would you give to someone considering a profession at Price Electric?
You get out what you put in. The company is fair and treats people well. Be a team player. We have a team ethic with everyone working in the field at Price Electric. This is especially true with the Utility and Traffic department. Everyone gets along, and no one works solo. If you like working as a team, this is for you.
What is the best place that you have traveled to?
I have visited Ireland on several occasions. It’s a beautiful, rustic country with plenty of unspoiled natural beauty and traditional ways of life. It was meaningful because my grandparents are from Ireland.
What are three words you would use to describe Price Electric?
Great place (to) work!

In what ways have you had opportunities to grow your career and achieve success at Price Electric?
At Price Electric, I have had the opportunity to expand my skill set. This includes gaining a crane operator license and a CDL license and participating in numerous training programs. As a result, I have transitioned into several job positions with increased responsibilities and salary raises.
What is on your bucket list?
I want to sky-dive again. I used to go skydiving a lot. I love it.

What do you like most about Price Electric?
I’m grateful to work with a fantastic team at Price Electric. We have a great working atmosphere, and I’ve enjoyed making many positive connections since joining the company. I’m thankful to my coworkers for making this job so enjoyable.
