Journeyman Electrician, Nick Lamparek – May Employee Spotlight

Meet Nick Lamparek, one of Price Electric’s People You Can Rely On. Nick Lamparek is a Journeyman Electrician and Jobsite Lead. Nick’s typical day consists of leading 3-4 small crews on jobsites. Nick reviews safety protocol. He lays out the projects and tasks for the team. He answers any questions and plans for their tasks. Nick will ensure they have the tools and materials needed to complete their job. Nick works with the general contractor and engineers to assure proper installation of the electrical systems, and assists with workforce planning.

Which Price Electric Core Value do you identify with most and why?

Pursue Lasting Relationships, because of the people we get to work with, both employees and customers. Being part of a reason that customers keep coming back to Price Electric helps to give me a great sense of satisfaction in the work that I do.

 What has been your favorite project at Price Electric so far, and why?

Working on the Intel plant in Albuquerque, AZ. This job gave me an opportunity to work while enjoying a vacation on my days off. I met some new friends. All while making good money.

It was really fascinating to learn how processor chips are made and how important our systems were in the process.

What are three words to describe Price Electric?

What is the best thing about your job?

The best thing about my job is being able to see buildings go from the ground up.  I like being able to take part in that process. I enjoy seeing the wide variety of electrical equipment and how it can be used for different industries.

The people I work with are great guys and they feel like family. Price Electric has opened a lot of different opportunities for me.

I’ve been able to travel around Iowa, Minnesota, Arizona, New York, and Texas for jobs.

What was the first big concert that you attended?

I saw Motley Crue and Alice Cooper in Des Moines.

Do you have a favorite quote, personal mantra, or motto?

Show me a guy who enjoys his job and I’ll show you a guy who doesn’t have to work a day in his life.

What is something on your bucket list?

I want to visit every National Park in the United States.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not at work?

I like to do lawn work. I dabble in woodworking by building small furniture.

I enjoy watching the Hawkeyes, traveling, and spending time with my family, girlfriend, and her daughter.

Have you won any awards, recognition, or completed any special classes or training? 

I completed my apprenticeship and became a Journeyman Electrician.

I was selected based on merit to compete at the ABC State Craft Championships. I competed in industrial/commercial electricians division and was a runner up.

What has been one of your proudest moments working at Price Electric?

Helping with recovery after the Iowa Derecho was my proudest moment at Price Electric.

I liked being able to help in the best way I could to improve our customer’s hardship.  Seeing how thankful they were for our help meant a lot to me.

It was great seeing how well our team came together to help. They did this regardless of what their situation was and how tired they were.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about a profession with Price Electric in 5 words or less?

Take advantage of your opportunities.
