Service Technician, Andy Waldschmidt, November Employee Spotlight

Meet Andy Waldschmidt, one of Price Electric’s People You Can Rely On. With over sixteen years of experience as an electrician, Andy is at home as a Service Technician at Price Electric. “Innovative Thinking” is the Price Core Value that Andy appreciates the most because “it’s always good to figure out new, innovative and different ways to do things and still meet the National Electric Code.” Andy is happiest when he is home with his family, with friends, watching movies, playing outside with his son, at family events, sports outings, or doing woodworking and DIY projects.

What is the best part of your job?

Andy always wanted to be an electrician. The part of his job that makes him the proudest is “doing the job I love and knowing that I am providing a service that helps enrich families’ lives.” It is rewarding knowing that when we are wiring a house, families will be raised there and that we’re adding joy to their future lives and improving their homes.

Tell us three things that most people don’t know about you.

  1. My age
  2. I have a family, including a 3-year-old son and another baby on the way.
  3. I am a bow-hunter.

What has been your favorite project at Price Electric?

My favorite project at Price Electric was Oaknoll East in Iowa City which received an Award of Merit from ABC of Iowa. I enjoyed being part of a multi-million-dollar project from start to finish and knowing that your company trusts your skill level to be part of such a big project. Various work needed to be done, ranging from wiring up apartment units to running electrical conduits in the parking garage.

What was the first big concert you went to?

I saw Jason Aldean at The Mark, now called the TaxSlayer Center in Illinois.

Where is your favorite movie?

Christmas Vacation

What is your favorite restaurant?

Pagliai’s Pizza in downtown Iowa City. It’s an old-school, family-owned joint serving thin-crust pizzas made from family recipes and beer.

What are three words to describe Price Electric?

  • Hardworking

  • Inspiring

What has been your best vacation?

The best vacation was my honeymoon at a resort in Negril, Jamaica.

What advice would you give to someone considering working at Price Electric?

You can take pride in what you do. Price Electric is a trade, and the electrical business will always be there. There will always be work because everyone needs electricity.

Do you have a motto or mantra that you live by?

“Life meets no one halfway.”
